EU and Russia are preparing to collaborate more closely in the field of research infrastructures
Russia and the European Union want to collaborate even more closely in the future in the field of large-scale research infrastructures. That was the clear signal sent at the closing conference of the European-Russian project CREMLIN, which took place on 5 June 2018 at DESY in Hamburg.

CREMLIN WP4 Workshop "Engineering For Advanced Neutron Instrumentation and Sample Environment" in Peterhof
Both scientists and engineers in the field of neutron instrumentation met in Peterhof near St. Petersburg from Sunday, 13 May to Wednesday, 16 May 2018 in order to participate in a CREMLIN WP4 workshop dedicated to "Engineering For Advanced Neutron Instrumentation and Sample Environment".

CREMLIN Closing Conference on 5 June in Hamburg
The three-year CREMLIN project will come to end in August 2018. On this occasion, the project coordinator DESY will organize a CREMLIN Closing Conference which will be held on Tuesday 5 June 2018.

XCELS project meets the European photonics industry
On 11 and 12 December 2017, the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA) organized, on the premises of Institut “Henri Poincaré” in Paris (France), a workshop on the Involvement of European Industry in the XCELS project.

Round table on Internationalization of XCELS project
On 7 and 8 December 2017, the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA) organized, on the premises of the Extreme Light Infrastructure Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) in Bucharest-Măgurele, Romania, a Round Table on Internationalization of the XCELS project. The round table was devoted to the discussion and preparation of the introduction of fundamentals of an international access, user, and governance policies for the Russian XCELS Exawatt laser project, hosted at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

European-Russian Workshop on SSRS-4 at DESY
On Tuesday, 23 January 2018, DESY hosted another European-Russian CREMLIN Workshop: The work package 5 (WP5) Workshop “Towards a conceptual design for the Russian SSRS-4 facility". This event has been a major step in the European-Russian collaboration for this Russian megascience project. SSRS-4: this will be a new fourth-generation synchrotron radiation light source which is currently in the pre-conceptual design phase.

CREMLIN at the EC Info day in Moscow
On 19 December 2017, the Russian National Contact Point for Research Infrastructures (NCP RI) at the Moscow NUST MISIS University hosted an “Info day”, addressing the topic “Deepening EU-Russia Strategic Cooperation in the Area of Research Infrastructures (RI): Challenges and New Opportunities”. The CREMLIN project largely contributed to this event.
